A baby. When does a baby become a human with emotions and thoughts and feelings?
This is an ultrasound picture of what I see everyday as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. As I do 1st trimester ultrasounds for newly expectant mothers, we see a baby with it's own heartbeat. Some babies are actively jumping around, some are resting, some like to wave their hands and arms. This is a LIFE.
Life.
It starts from the moment of conception; that magical moment a sperm meets an egg. From that moment, Life has begun:
PSALM 139:13-16:
13"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book"
This beautiful passage taken from the Bible always reassures me that I am not a mistake.
It is wonderful to know that no one is a mistake. For God has a plan uniquely designed for each one of us. And this plan was designed WAY before our moms even knew they were pregnant with us. The plan was put in place by God... from the moment of conception.
So if we are alive, then we can rest in the knowledge that each of us has a unique purpose that God has planned for us! How cool is that. He is the Alpha and the Omega (the Beginning and the End), so just go along for the ride. He has already been in your future. He is a safe bet. This doesn't mean that Life for us is easy. Everyone has a unique journey all their own; some have nightmares of living conditions; others have comforts in every way.
The journey is not perfect because we live in a world that is not perfect. The Hope in this is that we are each alive for a reason.
God wanted us to be conceived. He has a purpose for EACH of us.
So, on the days that you feel alone, desperate, defeated.. and feel that you don't have a purpose for being alive: just rest in the knowledge that that is all it is...just a FEELING; it is not a Truth. For God's Promises never fail:
Lamentations 3:21-23:
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Even the most evil that roam the earth were meant to be here and I am no better than they; for I am only saved by God's Grace; His amazing Grace. And that Grace is always extended to everyone just as they are. No prior clean-up required to ask the Lord to come into your life and clean it up and give you a Joy that is untouchable by circumstance and not available for purchase by our own efforts or money; all we have to do is to repent of our sins and accept God's love as a free gift! Then He does the miraculous cleansing & changing of our insides.... plus, He knows exactly how to do it because He made us.
So place your hand over your heart and feel your heart beating. That heart of yours has been beating ever since the moment God decided you should be alive: in your mother's womb..at the time of conception.
This is indeed a beautiful Truth.
